Anaxos - resort wyludnia sie po sezonie...

The summer resort Anaxos was founded in an open bay, only a couple of minutes of walk from a village of the same name. You will find clear sea and a beautiful beach with traditional Greek taverns. There is also a beautiful view of ancient Molivos with a Venetian castle and colourful houses from the swimming pool of Anaxos Hill Village. When the Sun sets there comes another amazing view.

Urlop geokeszera... - Lesvos, bardziej grecka niż powinna

Lesvos jest trzecią, co do wielkości, wyspą Grecji. Zaraz po Evii i Krecie. 

Powiadają, że długość wybrzeża wynosi 320 km. To by było nawet realne, bo wybrzeże Lesvos jest dość mocno postrzępione. Wśród skał schowane są małe plażyczki, niewielkie porty, a ostre granitowe skały górują nad błękitnym morzem... Pięknie jest..

Do wakacji byłam totalnie nieprzygotowana. Wiedziałam, że musi to być Grecja, planowałam jednak na pierwszy ogień wziąć Ateny i stamtąd dopiero na jakąś wysepkę. Jednakże wrzesień jest jeszcze zbyt wakacyjny i okazało się, że wycieczka z biura podróży będzie jednak dużo tańsza. Wybór padł na Lesvos. Planowałam kilka dni na Lesvos, potem Ikarię i kilka dni na Chios. (promy pomiędzy tymi wyspami kursują dość regularnie). 

No bo, myślałam, cóz będę robić na wyspie 50 km na 50 km. Z jednym Skamieniałym Lasem Sekwoi z listy UNESCO. Wykopalisk tu właściwie nie ma. Spektakularnych miejsc również. Na plaży przecież siedzieć nie będę... 

W jednym się nie pomyliłam. Nie siedziałam na plaży. 

Ypsilou Monastery

The monastery of Ypsilou stands on a 600 metres tall mountain. The very first evidence of this place dates back to the 8th century. At that time, a cave was used as a gathering place for monks, until a monastery was built there in the year 1101. Its appearance has not changed since the 16th century.

The battle at Klapados – History

Sometimes we came to the places about which we know nothing. Sometimes we just turn right (or left) into dirty road and... here we go... in such places, geocaching is very helpful. At least we know what we have in front of us

In this specific case we have a beautiful views, fantastic hills upward and pilgrime's way and monastery downward. In between we have HISTORY. And brave men who was fighting here for freedom.

Tavronitis - mostek z armatami

One of the longest-serving weapons in naval history, the Mk6 deepwater mine entered service in 1914 and was finally retired in 1985.

It outlived numerous “replacements”, basically due to it’s sheer simplicity. It could be laid in waters up to 3000’ deep. Weight was 1400lbs, with a 300lb TNT charge. The Mk6 was contact triggered. There was no auto-deactivate feature.

Tavronitis – Isolated quiet feel yet close to Chania and its airport.

A holiday in Tavronitis would suit couples and families looking for a quiet working Crete village with an uncrowded beach and the many possibilities of this stretch of coast near Chania Town and Chania airport to the south-west of Crete. Tavronitis is 10 miles from Chania and just a 20-minute drive from the airport.

There are superb views from around the village down to the coast, the Rodopou Peninsular and to the White Mountains inland. The beach is an easy short stroll from the village centre.

This can be one of the emptiest and quietest beaches in this stretch of coast west of Chania. Tavronitis beach is pebbly and very quiet indeed, a very relaxing place bordered by trees and with several relaxed tavernas by the sea. A few more facilities and tavernas are found at the neighbouring resort of Kolimbari a quiet calm village with relatively undeveloped, long, open beaches excellent for swimming, cliffs, typical white houses and flowers and a peaceful monastery.

There are further relatively low-key resorts with good beaches on this part of the Crete coast like Gerani and Maleme.

Tavronitis – Uncrowded village base for south and west Crete. Tavronitis holidays have the option of visiting the busy historic attractive town of Chania with its fascinating Venetian Old Town. All the attractions of Chania Town are within reach of regular buses as are plenty of other livelier resorts on the west coast of Crete.
